PEP Grant Manager at Woodford County Public Schools
Melody Hamilton has 14 years of K-12 teaching experience in Kentucky and has used heart rate monitors for most of her teaching career. She has worked for the KY Department of Education as a Program Consultant where she designed and implemented statewide “School Health Bus Tours”. She has coached basketball and archery, and she also started the Intramural program in her school. For her PE classes, she created swimming, biking, archery, and ropes course units, then got her CDL so she could drive the students to places to do these lifetime activities. She is a National Board Certified teacher, a Certified Level 1 and 2 archery coach, a personal trainer with additional certification in Youth/Adolescent Fitness training, and an American Heart Association First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor.
Melody has served as the KY AHPERD (now SHAPE) President. She has also been awarded the WOW award (teacher of the year) and had been recognized as Health Education Teacher of the year from the KY Association of School Health. She has written and received 24 grants for PE and Health in her community. Melody also volunteers with Special Olympics (swim coach for 15 years), Girl Scouts, Girls on the Run, Mentors and Meals, and for local and statewide Health Coalitions. She loves to be outdoors with her husband and 2 kids!
